Awesome one, but for my money the thing really earns it with that four song stretch late in the album. Reckless Serenade -> Piledriver Waltz -> Laserquest -> title track.

TUNES. Fucking tunes, man.

The best stretch of pure pop songwriting Turner's given us yet. If I had to choose a favorite on the album it would be the title track. So glad they picked it as a single, and the music video for it also kicks ass and has a hot naked chick in it. The only version of the video on YouTube is the "clean edit" though. Damn.

I went to buy it earlier in the year, but there didn't appear to be a booklet with the CD. I was pretty bummed.

Fuck yes, the ending is great. It's such a great ROCK album up to that point, but then he pulls out some really sublime pop hooks out of nowhere to fuel those songs. They're hardly gentle (listen to Submarine EP if you want those), but they show great range.

Bad As Me is one more reason why Tom Waits is the most awesome old man in rock.

The word "conatus" sounds extremely sexual.

I love the whole second half, but I would rank Lotus Flower and Codex above Separator, personally.
