Hi guys, if you can allow me to indulge myself by posting this list in the "Just The Bang And Clatter" section I would be most thankful. Now I realize that any other posters who would care to add to my list will be giving their age away so no pressure. You see how this started, is I was chatting with some friends and talking about how fast the years fly by and all that jazz. One of the things that came up was music and my buddy Shane put a challenge to us to name our favorite album from every year we have been alive. Intrigued, I decided to accept and made up this list.

Metallica - Death Magnetic was a stellar record and I was thrilled to see it on your list. 2004 was a toss up for me between The Killers - Hot Fuss and Green Day - American Idiot. In the end, Mr. Brightside tipped the scales in favor of Hot Fuss. Thanks for your contribution.

1st grade.

2007 - Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

This year is really stacked as well - possibly the best music year of my life when I look at replay value. Radiohead, The National, Plant & Krauss, Springsteen, Dylan, Iron & Wine, and probably dozens others I am leaving off.

A Headache In A Suitcase I imagine? I must say, your list Lazarus makes for excellent reading. 1973, 1975, 1986, and 1987 were disturbingly good years for music. I was torn trying to pick just one album as at least 2-3 other stellar releases could have been chosen. Cheers.

Attempting and failing to complete this exercise has led me to the revelation that I've never listened to a single album released in the year 1998.

I agree with you about 1998. It's probably my least favorite year for music ever. That twelve months we were confronted with boy bands, gangster rap, wannabe Seattle grunge, Nu-Metal and Lilith Fair female acts.

As far 1998 goes, I personally own just 17 albums. That is a very small number when comparing that count against other years which are 30-50+.

1998:

Madonna - Ray Of Light

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

Air - Moon Safari

Pulp - This Is Hardcore

Pearl Jam - Yield

Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing

Beck - Mutations

David Gray - White Ladder

Garbage - Version 2.0

Smashing Pumpkins - Adore

Manic Street Preachers - This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours

Hole - Celebrity Skin

Tori Amos - From The Choirgirl Hotel

PJ Harvey - Is This Desire?

R.E.M. - Up

Sloan - Navy Blues

The Tragically Hip - Phantom Power

 He did say 1998.......that is embarrassing. :reject:

Especially when you listed Van Halen's OU812 as worth listening to.

Rancid's Life Won't Wait was pretty close to taking 1998 for me. Also Liz Phair's White Chocolate Space Egg.

Good call on Rancid. Life Won't Wait was a worthy successor to ...And Out Come The Wolves. I believe I missed that one when tallying up my 1998 releases. Thanks
