Just wondering if you guys could post what cd's you have listened to for the first time and not had the desire to skip over any songs? For me it has happened three times: Achtung Baby, Astral Weeks by Van Morrison and Only by the Night by the Kings of Leon. And you?

Several times it happened... if I'm too excited to hear the album I won't want to skip a song, cause I want to hear it all the way til the end.
What you should ask is which albums, even after a long time, we have no desire to skip any song. But again, it all depends on our moods.

Yes - Close To The Edge
Genesis - Selling England By The Pound, Genesis
U2 - Achtung Baby, The Joshua Tree, War, Pop
Keane - Hopes and Fears
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American, Chase This Light
King Crimson - Discipline
Michael Jackson - Thriller, Dangerous, Off The Wall
Tori Amos - Under The Pink, Little Earthquakes
Peter Gabriel - Security, So, Melt, Us, Up

There are plenty more, but that's enough for now.

Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes, Under The Pink and Choir Girl Hotel
U2 - Achtung Baby, HTDAAB (back when it leaked :giggle:)
Matchbox Twenty - Yourself Or Someone Like You

There's probably more.

Idlewild - 'In Remote Part'
Okkervil River - 'The Stage Names'
The Cure - 'Head on the Door'
The Shins - 'Chutes Too Narrow'
Interpol - 'Turn On The Bright Lights'
Bloc Party - 'Silent Alarm'
Built to Spill - 'Keep It Like A Secret'

etc, etc.

For me, that wouldn't apply because with several of my favorites of all time, some of the songs took a while to grow on me. I find it to be really special to listen to one for the first time and just know that I love literally every song. For me, this is a much more unusual occurrence. I have tons of albums that I think are great from start to finish, but the few that I mentioned are probably the only ones that I knew right off the bat that I loved every song and time has not changed that. Really, if you name almost any album, regardless of how much you love it there is usually at least one song that you will skip over and not be too crazy about.

Also, some of your suggestions thus far have piqued my interest into some that I'm not familiar with so I will definitely be checking a lot of these out.

Sound of Silver has to make it on here too. And I forgot to mention the Space Jam OST.

I'm going to discuss the title of the thread, rather than the content of first post or the whole "Is there a perfect record?" question. At first, I figured that I wouldn't be able to list more than one or two records, but in a shocking turn, I am suddenly able to think of so many records whose every songs I loved, on the first spin, as to invalidate my opinions. At any rate, here're a few. Again, though--these aren't records of "songs I didn't want to skip," or whatever. I never want to skip songs, because I enjoy LPs.

These are some records which I listened to and loved each and every song, the first time through. Just the tip of the iceberg. No joke...

U2: Achtung Baby; The Joshua Tree; Boy
Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense
The Velvet Underground: Loaded
The Hold Steady: Boys and Girls in America
Super Furry Animals: Hey Venus!
The New Pornographers: Twin Cinema
The Beatles: Nearly every single record, in all honesty.
My Bloody Valentine: Loveless
Pavement: Slanted and Enchanted
The Boss: Nebraska
Beck: Midnite Vultures; Odelay!
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead: Source Tags & Codes

Jesus. Way too many, seriously.

U2: The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, No Line On The Horizon
Radiohead: OK Computer, In Rainbows
Beatles: Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road, Revolver
The Killers: Day and Age
Coldplay: Viva La Vida
Beck: Modern Guilt
The Duke Spirit: Neptune

There are more but they're skipping my mind at the moment.

David Bowie - The Rise & Fall Of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars
Morrissey - You Are The Quarry
U2 - Achtung Baby

Black Sabbath - Master of Reality
Blood Red Shoes - Box of Secrets
The Strokes - Is This It
U2 - Achtung Baby

AFI - Decemberunderground

One of the rare albums where I listened to it and loved it from the very first go.

The mid-to-late 60's Beatles and Stones classics...Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers, Beggar's Banquet, Let it Bleed. Those are the first to come to mind.

The first two Strokes albums. A few Boss Springsteen and Pearl Jam albums. And I think I liked every song on Achtung the first time I heard it.

:lame:

I agree that it depends on your moods.

sometimes I could listen to a full Tiesto album, but sometimes I skip songs.

it depends on my flow. Madonna, Vanilla Sky Soundtrack, Chillout, Old Skool. etc.

pretty much every album thou, has a song or two I wanna skip, so yea, as said, sometimes I listen to it full when driving. I put it down to either being miles away emotionally and not quite caring what is playing/or just keeping vol. low and letting it play but enjoying it or having vol. up loudish and enjoying certain music while wrecking the honk outta my car!

Also I have a setlist for when I cycle. it has to be dance music, LOL!
