October, and the trees are stripped bare,
Of all they wear,
what do I care,
October, and kingdoms rise, and kingdoms fall
but you go on.

Quite a poignant song depending on how you interpret it.

You know this was at point, Adam's favourite U2 album.

*hehe, why wouldn't he like it, the near bass solos.*

It is amazing how Bono captures part of the essense of God's sovereignty in these words. There are a number of places in Scripture where God declares His sovereignty over kings and rulers:

Romans 13:1 - "there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Daniel 2:21 - "he sets up kings and deposes them"

Daniel 4:17 - "the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men"

John 19:11 - "Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above."

October is my second favorite U2 album. It's very spiritual..

Oh, that's a really good point. You know, I never really thought of October (the song) as being a spiritual song ... I just thought it was a fantastic song. Very poignant, as you said, haunting and mysterious. And now I think about it, very deep and meaningful in terms of those verses that nbcrusader quoted. Thanks!

Ocober is one of favorite albums, too! I love the song "Fire," and "October."
