Bono's Meeting With The Pope

I was thinking about this recently when President Bush met with the Pope, and there was a bit of controversy regarding the issue of priests/molestation charges being raised by the President.

All I've ever read about is Bono giving the Pope his shades , but I've never read what, if anything, they discussed. I was wondering if Bono has ever talked about it publicly-I would think not.

What do you think he talked about w/ the Pope? And did he raise any 'controversial' issues? Maybe the meeting was far too brief for a meaningful discussion....

Does anyone have any articles/information about this?

I found an article-here's an excerpt from it..

As for the meeting with the Pope, Bono is keen to express how moved he was.
When John Paul II visited Dublin 20 years ago, he wasn't one of the
millions who crowded into and around Phoenix Park to get a look, but he
does remember feeling 'God had smiled upon the papal visit to Ireland, for
the simple reason that the mood in the country seemed to elevate'. This
time around, like Geldof and the rest of the Jubilee 2000 delegates, Bono
was shocked at how physically frail the pontiff seemed, but he was
impressed by his spirit.

'On one level, we were giggling and thinking, this is a bit mad. Bob
especially - he's been giving out about the Catholic church all his life.
And yet there was a real sense that here was a holy man. Which surprised
me. I don't really bow the knee to religion. I'm a believer, I'm famous for
that, but I'm pretty suspicious of religions, organised religions, I mean.
The point is, I wasn't expecting to be in any way moved. But there was
something about the sheer act of will involved. The determination of the
man, ill as he was, to be there today. You realised that Jubilee 2000 is a
very big deal to the Pope. This idea is perhaps his swansong, and what a
swansong it would be if he pulls it off.'
