This weekend, our high school pastor was preaching on Ephesians 3:14-19 about the community of believers - that our faith in God strenghthens when our worship is corporate, our community draws together in Christ.

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

At one point, our pastor quoted Bono to say that, honestly, the community of believers may not be easy for us.

You know, God has some really weird kids, and I find it hard to be in their company most of the time.

But God still calls us together.
 
That's a really nice thought, nbcrusader. Your pastor has a great way with words (and not just because he quoted Bono). I myself have found it difficult to move from a "vertical" view of Christianity - only looking upwards - to a "horizontal" view - looking around me as well. I'm not really a very good people person and have definitely found some members of the community hard to relate to. But I know it's important and I have to try ... thanks for sharing that.
