hey people
well I've finally decided to join in and post one of my poems. BTW the subject line isnt a hassle of anyone else's contributions, it's the title of the poem!
PS I wrote this when I was a cynical and hurting and lonely 17-year-old, which may explain a lot...
___________
I love thee
More than mere words could *possibly* convey
Which basically renders this poem
Totally redundant, I guess.

...But I might as well continue it
Since to cut a poem that short
Would be a complete waste
Of an exceedingly valuable piece of paper.

And yet I love thee more
Than I care about the felling of multitudinous Amazonian rainforests
Or the severe and most likely irreversible ozone depletion
That the manufacture of the aforementioned piece of paper
Undoubtedly contributed to.

In fact, if the two of us alone
Were to survive a nuclear holocaust
I'd love thee more than ever
In the absence of air, water, plants, animals
And the rest of the human race.
True, it would probably be an extremely *short-lived*
Undying love
But it's the thought that counts, isn't it.

Let's see...how else can I illustrate
The depth of my love for thee?
Well, I'd die for thee, I suppose...
(If it *really* came to the crunch).
I'd jump off a cliff
Into a vat of hydrochloric acid
Under a freight train
Onto a busy motorway
In front of a speeding bullet...you get the picture!

Yes, I would indeed...but only if you came along too.
Because I'd rather die with thee
Than ever live without thee
And spending all eternity in thy company
Would have to be my idea of bliss.

...Of course, just staying alive with thee here on earth
Would be far more practical, viable and feasible
In the long run
Saving the whole mess, fuss and bother of, well, *dying*.

But it just doesn't have the same romantic and tragic *effect*
Does it:
So there you go.

That person must be very special!
