Walk On

Her legs lent themselves to my downfall
Wandering past her house I'd look in
In time, we met
Time and again we brushed shoulders
(in the most casual way)
And when we finally danced
the old fandango embraced our souls
our souls

Danced all night

When I awoke, her soft, subtle poetry was missing
her eyes were goggles; makeup intact
"Goodbye for now" she insisted
Longer goodbyes waited
Longer than I wanted
I wanted

Longer goodbyes

Today my tie is straight
Jacket loosened: buttons undone
Maybe I brush her shoulder again
Or just walk on by.
I got to dance with her one night
one night

walk on

Come on, come on! Be good to me...

I like it.

I've been catching up on some poems I missed reading recently...

I love the subtlety of this poem... I am tempted to say this poem is bitter, but it's more than just that... streaks of pleasure in it, laced with indifference

but that's what life is, is it not? and it's all right here in this poem
