Twenty four fell to darkness,
Five their hearts did bleed,

Falsities forbearing doom,
A' ringing in my ear,
Secrets whispered loud enough,
For indulgence to shed a tear,

In memory of jealousies,
Of desires long forgot,
Days of death, nights of life,
The hour is a’ drawing near,

Resurrection, desecration,
Birth control, the flight,
Of twenty nine little birds,
Flocking untoward the light,
