Casually we have drifted
Unsuspecting we have become invisible
You ask me for reassurance
It annoys me somewhat
Why do you always need this?

Somewhere in this house must be
A hidden drain
Where the wonder went away
Lost in the shuffle of a busy life
You are my wife

I seem to lose the weight the meaning
Of what we’ve entered into
Have I become a tranced-out zombie,
To walk by your beauty
And notice nothing?

As if you live in force-field fashion
We interact
Where is my passion?
Don’t I see your unique display
Of original life day after day?

Slap my face
Give me a smell of that salt
Do anything something
But make me alert

I don’t want to fall in the familiar trap
Remind me to love her for her
Everyday
Make sure that she’s sure
I am right here beside

Keep my eyes on the blessing
If all else falls away
Regardless
No matter
You and I here to stay
