Inside Bono's Mind
What can I say?:cute: The man truly changed my life...

bonopretty.jpg

To him, Bono
You set my mind free,
You wide opened my eyes
To the world surrounding me

Before you, I was blind
Eyes closed to the human heart
Where emotions were numb

Feeling angry and lonely
Misunderstanding myself
You put words on my scars

Slowly a light came flooding inside
Catching my breath
Wondering where it came from

This light was living within me
You said words and set fire
To my heart and to my soul

But you never gave up
Giving and sharing them
Waiting for a sparkle to burst

You lighted up the way
Showed me unbelievable places
With a word or just a look

With you, I am feeling alive
Blood rushing in my heart
Giving birth to new feelings

Pushing me to the edge
But always by my side
To face the world, no longer on my own

And embracing me warmly
When the storms won't just stop
Keeping our hearts safe

Burning like fire inside
But never killing me
You have always been there

Worshipping you, always
To give you back my soul
But never losing myself

With you, colours are bright
Dark clouds slowly creep away
The world seems a little safer

With all my heart and soul
I'll never forget or lose you
You're inside, pounding in my heart... (September 2005)

What do you think?! :reject:
I need to make a 2010 version, what Bono means to moi today:cute:

Members of the Unite Church of Bono's Worshippers! We have CREDO now :hyper::hyper:

I like the way you showed emotions in this poem :)
It's very moody :cute:

I think if Bono ever were to read that, he'd be truly touched :). Such a sweet sentiment-I know, there's that whole, "Avoid idol worship" thing and I do agree with that on one hand, but at the same time there are some people out there who do deserve some genuine praise for all the good they've brought to people's lives. Which Bono has most certainly done. So what if it's gushy? It's honest and lovely and full of truth, so it's allowed to be :D.

:cute: Thanks Angela for your insightful reply:heart:
Indeed, there is that "idol worship" thing that is quite serious, no matter if the line is blurry. But like you said, there are some people out there who truly deserve and command such praise, Bono is one of them, I'm sure:heart:

Yes, it's quite personal and heartfelt, but I stand proud behind my words, because that is truly what I've been through as a U2/Bono fan. I don't pretend to say that it applies for everyone, but in my case, here's what I feel like. Your comments are looove:love:

But I'm up for the challenge of writing a new version, not to erase this one, but to show a kind of evolution, maturation in my feelings for that brilliant but a hell of a bad driver man:lol: Like Monet who painted 250 versions of his water lilies, it's all about showing one thing through a different lens, by exploring different facets of a single element!

We'll have a catechism :lol::D:D:D
Looking forward to read a new version :)
And Angela is right, Bono would be touched if he saw it :cute:

Gosh, I can't even begin to wrap my mind around what Angela said, I'm sure he would but I'm pretty sure I would be speechless if he ever was to read it:ohmy:But I'd be honored that's for sure!!

What a lovely poem! I'll have to dig through some of my old poetry. There's a few U2 inspired poems somewhere in those. GAH! I loved this! The emotion in it is just...wow. Beautiful. Wonderful job, once again! :applaud:

:cute: Thanks Jess!
There's just some people in your life that inspire you, and sometimes it's good to give back!

Your poem is seriously good, cathou_u2.

It speaks from the heart and captures the spirit of what Bono is and always will be. You've got serious talent. Carry on writing! I'd love to read more of your poems, too.

Excellent.

I have written a poem about U2. It is on a website now. The poem is - not surprsingly - called "U2: Legends Of Rock". It is rather long, but I enjoyed writing it.

I won't mention the website, or this post will be labelled spam. Do google it yourself, if you so wish.

I may as well upload it onto here. Tell me what you think!

U2 : Legends of Rock

The year 1976 Larry Mullen Jr to get kicks,
Mount Temple Comprehensive School,
Dublin, Ireland, to post a note,
On that famous school’s notice board,
To search for members of a band,
The concept being rock, alternative rock,
Post punk, name of the band,
Feedback and The hype,
Adam Clayton to be base guitar,
Larry Mullen Jr drums and percussion,
Bono the singer, the guitarist,
Later to become a political figure.

First band to be called U2,
Their music coming through,
Into the mainstream arena,
Labels, Island, Interscope and Mercury,
Albums in succession hits,
From Boy 1980,
First number one album War,
1983 the year the hit album born,
Singles ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’
‘Pride In The Name Of Love’
To turn U2 into a political,
And socially conscious group,
Their albums being the coop,
‘The Unforgettable Fire’
Another album here today,
Legends born as their guitars play.

Live Aid 1985 to showcase U2,
Globally renowned for their live acts,
And when 1987 hit, so hit U2,
Their album ‘The Joshua Tree’
To smash the charts in America,
And worldwide, for ‘With or Without You’
Shall live forever, and
‘Where The Streets Have No Name’,
To make them legends,
Bono recognized the world over,
With music collaborations,
With Dylan and B.B King,
‘When Love Comes To Town’
A hit the world over,
‘Desire’ to become number 1 song in Britain,
Number 3 in the US,
An album never to be forgotten,
Never to be slammed by critics,

But ‘The Joshua Tree’ was not the end:
For they recorded Rattle and Hum in 1988,
And in the 1990’s they began a new style,
With the album ‘Achtung Baby’,
1991 the year they reinvented music,
And began the multimedia intensive,
Zoo TV Tour, legends in the living room,
1989 to 1990 Lovetown Tour,
Visiting Australasia, Japan and Europe,
Bono the own the stage,

Although stung by criticism of Rattle and Hum,
U2 changed their style,
This album being ‘Achtung Baby’,
And the risk worked:
U2 to record the album in Berlin,
Produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno,
Difficult sessions but U2 made a hit,
With the style of industrial music,
And electronic dance music,
Bono to describe this as,
‘Four men chopping down the Joshua Tree’
An app statement at the time,

Performances to be leather clad egomaniac ‘The Fly’
The greedy televangelist ‘Mirror Ball Man’
The devilish ‘MacPhisto’ with prank phone calls,
Made to President George W. Bush,
Live satellite link-ups to war torn Sarajevo,
Causing much controversy,
Making the band $67 million dollars,

In June 1993, U2 to sign a six album deal,
Island Records/PolyGram,
The deal worth $60 million,
The highest paid rock band on the planet,
Zooropa now a full length LP album,
U2 legends having been made,
Bono always on the stage,
And never afraid,
Of success and being well dressed,

For ‘Pop’ hit the charts, the year 1996,
Their hits to be recorded,
In sessions with Nellee Hooper, Flood,
And Howie B, musical styles,
To be electronic and dance music,
Every song its own work of art,
U2 music to be special and from the heart,
The soul in the music making ‘Pop’,
A work of art and unique in its style,
For pop music has always been around,
But U2 to take their own style,
For ‘Discotheque’ is its own legend,
Bubblegum to be chewed,
And a song never to lose,

Later albums to include,
‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’,
The ‘Elevation tour’ excellent,
Bono in his element,
Roaming the stage,
Getting all the praise,
U2 not having any limit,
On their success and days,

For ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’,
A hit on the world, as if they were a bomb,
And U2 rocks that stage,
Music worldwide and wild,
The Vertigo tour 2003-2006,
Bono the own the stage,
Fans in their billions,
U2 worth those millions,

For ‘No Line On The Horizon’
And U2 360 Tour 2006 – 2011,
Why Bono is a legend,
The next album ‘Songs Of Innocence’,
Beautifully written music,
For U2 are the legends of rock,
Their work global and to never stop,
For their album ‘The Joshua Tree’
Is what planted their feet in the ground,
And like the world spins,
Their music will always be around,
For this is U2: not just Bono,
Who have worked forever,
And who always have style,
I am glad to have listened to this band,
As the audience claps,
Their endless hands, U2 to never miss a show,
Or be forgotten, for they are the boss,
And music they will always know.

If you go to PoemHunter.com you can listen to the better edited version I have posted on here. There is an narrator on said webpage, so listen to that and it'll all become clear.

I hope you all like my poem. "U2: Legends Of Rock" took a good few hours to write and I am rather pleased with it. Again, Google said website and put my poem title in the search engine.

I'd love to have your opinions! But not too harsh, I hope!

Anyone like "U2; Legends Of Rock"? Your opinions? Like or dislike?

I know I've bumped up this thread, but have a listen anyway? And no: I am not a spammer!
