The Will of an Angel:

I am the heart of a thousand dieing men,
each one dead after long battles

Come to me, bleeding hearts, tell me your stories: my wounded hands will sooth the swollen rips in your skin, the breaks in your bones

My wings quiver when you try to touch me in the wrong way, but my soul yearns to ease your pain all the same

My halo? It fell off when I touched you in that same way. Please, I hope you don't mind.

My robe is stained, my sandals are worn. I'm not the site for your sore eyes: but I am an angel.

So sit with me, for just a while longer, and I will ease your beating heart...

I will ease your pulsing blood...
I will rest your open eyes...
I will hold your limp body...
I will bury your cold skin...
I will remember your beautiful spirit...
I will...

(Sit now, next to the soldiers, next to the wounded, next to the hurt. If they try to touch you, let them. It eases their souls, too. Try not to touch them back: you may lose your halo. When they die, wish them well- and send them this letter. I did.)
