The Whores of Capitalism...

I once knew a girl named ----
I would visit her boudoir every evening;
I would sit outside her house
waiting my turn, taking my turn
drinking her treasures -- they were sold,
so that I might be filled with a few more hours,
so I told them

She was not cheap, but if you stayed
you could get a discount on the refill...
an extra rush to fill the veins of your loneliness
She was the best in town;
She was an addiction -- and I am just the type
Where else could one buy a taste of life so cheap?

Oh, don't think that I was her only customer
No, her doors were always open to strangers, of course,
during normal business hours, which varied slightly,
like her flavors, so I am told...
Sometimes she was exotic, but she always tasted the same to me
It was heaven -- that she sold;
always hot and brooding, ready to be filled with cream

She tried to stay neat in her appearance (and I guess that was it)
She would plant flowers and they would grow out of her dirty sidewalks
They were plain, but plentiful (no, she never understood that concept...)
She only knew her consumers would need to be satisfied,
and they were not concerned with beauty, but with its absence
She once told me that she never had an orgasm, but she has my $1.50
Oh "Starbucks," you whore

I wrote this one night sitting outside the glorious capitalist coffee conglomerate known endearingly as "Starbucks," anyway, I was a good little capitalist patron during my University days... so this was a reflection on how I loathed the big corporate machine, but I was also a part of it... oh the hypocricy!

Good poem Wanderer

But if these ticket prices are true come tomorrow, IMHO you can add SFX and U2 to Starbucks ranks...grumblegrumblegrumble...this whole ticket price thing has absolutely ruined my week

well, I wonder how many of you thought I was a whore-monger for a second there?

as if...

but anyway, I think I'm gonna go to the massive Tower Records store now, and stop off at Starbucks on my way home
