Rock n' Roll Doggie VIP PASS
vicariously she stumbles along the ten foot walk
noting the seasons rhyme in her head;
the twisted embers from the firefly's glow
shout devious dewey shivers down the spine
of her worn and fragmented cane,
what holds her alive is the mystery and magic of a whistled tune from a history ago.
"my anton is gone" cried from a crack that seeps the window's pane
her moans like a call of the wind engulfing the sycamore;
her sycamore, her love
grasping the only breath she had left,
her shrunken,greyish and wrinkled hands yearn,
outstretched within an inch of their reach.
bony, gaunt fingers clasp the bottle tightly;
green eyes, her only door left open to the world
half closed,
eye lids heavy and lashes clouding view
sun spirals glisten through a barrage of branches,
bouncing off flecks of lady spider's lace
to land softly atop the sparrow's
speckled feathery coat,
his home her sycamore be.
her last smile leaving lilac lips,
as she drifts away softly, to the song of the sparrow and the sycamore tree.
