A silly Shakespearian Ode...

Shakespeare in the Movies
What would the great man think?
To see Hollywood take him on
would surely make his cuckholds shrink!

Thou hast he he seen his words on screen
would he have approved of these modern things?
i'd say he'd wonder what it was all about
and prefer to watch it from the wings.

Would the bard have watched in horror
as Tinsletown does and Elizabethan jig?
He'd close his eyes, count to ten and then
from his chamber pot he'd take a swig.

What are these actors doing with
the fine words they are trying to steal?
Hollywood's lastest one on offer
thou hath cast Ally McBeal!

If only the public could understand
that this is some sort of complot
Hollywood is trying to make us belive
that their stories actually have a plot.

Would he understand that his plays are
no longer on the South Bank of the Thames?
Buy some popcorn and a $12 ticket
and you can see it in cinema ten.

You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy
Then you get to like the way it feels...

I was just thinking again the other day of what the bard would be doing if alive today. I reckon he'd be writing screenplays rather plays and pop songs rather than sonnets

great ode
