albiet, i am but a journeyman
my life is that of the road
there where times and there were days
when life seemed too heavy a load...

a lass
a lady
a love of my life
i wanted her
i needed her
i asked her 'be my wife'
in her town many days did i stay
til she laughed and said
'n'er we'd come outta bed'
and i stood there as she walked away...

a toil
a pain
my poor mother's sad death
a loss
a shame
i stole her last breath
that time that i took mother's gold
they wept when they found
her body underground
but i still say that lady was too old...

my time
my life
my heart's weakened for sure
my glory
my yearning
i've always wanted more
as a lad i'd dream of ruling the world
money, ladies and love
i knew came from above
but God'd thrown me, to the devil i hurled

so as a journeyman i've got no story to tell
the road is my home
no seeds have i sown
and everything is wonderful down here in hell!

thanks for sharing this one Adam

i've always wanted more
as a lad i'd dream of ruling the world
money, ladies and love
i knew came from above
but God'd thrown me, to the devil i hurled

how many have sung that song in the last two thousand years or so? and that last line is as good as I've heard it sung
