a fourteen year old
aborts her mistake
a killers' victim lies
in the bottom of a lake
guns are being shot
death rising with the sun
wars are being fought
grown men are on the run

and the cat purrs tonight
in the dim glare of the lamplight
the cat sleeps and purrs tonight

in the third world's mire
people livin' on their knees
they're famished and dirty
and they're stricken by disease
meanwhile back home
healthcare's through the roof
third world's not alone
we beg for medicine too

and the cat purrs tonight
in the dim glare of the lamplight
the cat sleeps and purrs tonight

a gay man is beaten
for liking the pole
a jew is kicked hard
for reading the koran
a black wall is dented
with an ivory bat
no can can sleep in a world
full of hate like that

and the cat purrs tonight
in the dim glare of the lamplight
until she's woken right up
by a big crashing noise outside
she gets up and stares for a bit
soon she feels weight on her eyes

she won't remember why or when
she moved from where she went to bed
in ten minutes she'll be asleep again
and she'll purr until you ache in your head

Great, I can visualize it!;):) Bittersweet is written all over it.:wink: To me, it is like a wolf howling at the moon, or an animal or person who aches from what is happening around.
