Smile on your Makeup

I don't know if any of you saw Maya Angelou on Oprah the other day, but I did,and she absolutely blew me away. WOW what an amazing lady. Sparkling attitude. She inspired me to write this:


I've stood with injustices
Carried enemies on busted hips
And I have yet to complain

I've stood without crutches
Loved without crushes
And I don't need to explain

Get out of your skin

Cause its not providing you with protection

Cause its not swinging in the right direction
Nor giving out any commission

All you gotta do is wake up
With a smile on your makeup

I've reached without grabbing
Spoke without blabbering
And I find my spirit comes easy

I've learned to grow ageless
Turn the endless pages
My, the chapters keep pleasing me

Let them into your house

You might enjoy what they're offering

Let their blood do all the buffering
And wipe away your suffering

Put your little hands together

And call me temporary mother
