Walking through a small town
You’re joking around with your friends
When a shot rings out and the man to your right
Falls to the ground

Suddenly surrounded and firing on all sides
Your brain switches off and you struggle to survive
All that matters now is that you live and they die

After the battle’s over,
All that’s left are shells

You don’t even have time to think about what you’ve done
Even though you’re not wounded, you still feel the pain
You’re so tried of seeing people fall in the sun
You wish it would rain

After the battle’s over,
All that’s left are shells

You know the coordinates and are ready to fight
But can you even tell if the numbers are right?
The difference between a one and a three
Can lead to glory or misery

As you look at the red ground,
You can hear the church bells

After the battle’s over,
All that’s left are shells

Hope you guys like it. Comments are appreciated.

Wow I really like this writing, Joey :) Immediately brings all kinds of images of war into my mind... You wrote down those feelings really well. Was there a certain reason you wrote this?

Not anything specifically. I had been knocking around the idea of writing a song about war for a while but it didn't come together until last week. I'm glad you liked it. :)
