Wrote this one in my senior year of high school upon hearing that a friend of mine was engaged. Doesn't have a title yet (do ANY of my poems? lol).
My life flashes before me
As some elusive dream
Friends of mine from childhood
Much older than they seem.
Was it yesterday that we played house
And ran along the grass?
Now those carefree days are gone forever
Just echoes of the past.
It came upon us suddenly
Before we even knew
Now the future is reality
And what are we to do?
The times we thought would always last
Now wistful memory
We're living out the very things
We thought we'd never see.
