How I Survived Tuesday

For I lost my way
Zigged when I should have zagged
Had something to say
But it would have been lost in translation
So quiet I sat
And pretended I knew what was happening
Petrified to chat
But somehow I looked sexy to you

Am I the only one?
The only one
Am I the only one?
Who’s having fun

For I found my voice
Scratchy when you wanted smooth
Some cosmic noise
But it drifted above your dog shaped clouds
For I sold the farm
And lived like a thief in the richest of locales
Void of charm
But somehow I got by without a clue

Salty tears from all of the traumatic years
Dodged all the arrows and poisonous spears
Relentless pain because of the endless rain
You’re everywhere and no one knows your name

The bone covered in blood
The dead stuck in the mud
Lived hard and way too fast
Tomorrow is here in a flash

Alone in the bed, drained from what’s been said
White knuckle the wine and banging your head
Wishing it all away every night and every day
Want me to leave but your eyes tell me to stay

Beneath the noise and trampled dreams
This suits me just fine
