Hey there everyone,
I wrote this after a time when I wasn't feeling so great and then met a girl who reminded me of everything that life can be ... I'm still at the rhyming couplets stage I'm afraid when it comes to poetry, my little sis would probably just look at it and say, 'You DO know don't you that poems don't HAVE to rhyme' but hey, rhyming is a skill too. As long as you don't try and rhyme 'mole', 'hole' and 'soul' in the same sentence eh Bono lol. Ok enough procrastinating; and by the way, what a great word that is! I only learnt that just there now in one of the other threads in this forum, who says that being a U2 fan isn't educational! Ok, ok without further ado:

Night Into Day

When night is everyday and hopes last vestiges they depart,
When pain is bubbling and frothing in my heart,
When a darkness is gnawing at the inside of my skull,
When I’ve seen my last dreams butchered bloody in a cull,
When I feel so lonesome that I can’t even weep,
When I’m haunted by elusive dreams whispered in my ear as I sleep,
When fire surrounds me and I’m choking on the smoke,
When my insides are fizzing like a shaken can of coke,
When I can’t bear to look back for fear of what I’ll there see,
When my spirit’s chopped into kindling like a dead old oak tree,
When I no longer like the person I’ve become,
When my face is stretched and taut like the skin on a drum,
When every breath is a sigh and every smile is a struggle,
When I long for someone to hold, to hug and to cuddle,
I hear your voice!
Summer sunshine falls gently upon my face,
You tenderly envelop me in your loving embrace.

What do you think? At least it had a happy ending, you might have been losing the will to live a little in the middle there but all's well that ends well I guess :D
