A modern life-

A life spent on penny trivialities, mere trinkets on a dead corpse
Is that all modern life is?
Racing, working, dying for coins
Then turning them into shiny toys?

A life bent on not ending
But not knowing why it’s begging for another breath?
A life bent on being on the top of the mountain
Even if it is made up of broken bones?

I am not a philosopher; I am not a wise man
But I can’t help but wonder if this is abundant life
Is this the life that the thirty something carpenter ransomed us for
Freed to live for the wills we supposedly died to

There must be more than the houses we build to keep life out
There must be more than our TV delivered nightmares
There must be more than the latest self help bestseller
Cause a thirtysomething carpenter was willing to die for this
Modern life.
