(I recently found out that one of my friends used to cut themselves. I showed him this poem that I wrote a couple of years ago. At the time, I didn't know anyone who did it (I never have myself). Since then, I've shown this to quite a few people, and I have been amazed at the number of folks who knew someone who did it. I hope I don't offend anyone by posting it.)
Cutter
Just a little slit, and it'll start to ooze
Just a little bit, got a lot to lose
Don't wanna die, just wanna sing
A lullaby to each red-line sting
Pieces of me, pieces of me
A drop at a time, a drop in a sea
Blood and tears intertwining
No solution or future divining
Misunderstood - don't really like pain
Yet I'll do it again and again
Keep control, a steady grip
Keep it small, a steady drip
I ain't trying to kill myself
I'm just trying to thrill myself
A secret shiver down my spine
You have your serenity, I have mine
Wrap up and around and try to hide
None will know, keep it all inside
Until I feel the need once more
To have my blood and troubles outpour
