Shouts drown out the world around, Si se Pued! No somos Criminales!

Brown, Black, Asian, White scream aloud calling for freedom and to be like all.

We are humans not aliens the crowd roars like a mighty african lion.

Colors of flags wave in the wind forming into one a sea of people wishing equality!

Looked down upon as scum, wasting resources and refusing to learn the language. Hated by many citizens of the nation, who are high on self indulgence.

A great man spoke words that we should all read and believe.

"With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.

And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.

Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.

Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of
Pennsylvania.

Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.

Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.

But not only that:

Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.

Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.

Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.

From every mountainside, let freedom ring.

And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last"

--last part MLK (I have a dream)

Justin, good writing....it made me think about a writing of mine from my Children of the World Collection...it has more of a global influence because it was for a world-wide childrens' charity project which never came to me. This collection is special to me as I write for the children through their eyes. I feel it fits into what you portray.

================

Allegiance to Believe

The Children of the World don’t quite understand.
What is wrong with saying “The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag”.

The Children represent all countries of the World,
all religions, all nationalities.
For some Children , the “Pledge of Allegiance” is special,
which most may not understand.
“The Pledge of Allegiance” means “Freedom”,
no bondage and no slavery.

The Children of the World know of hunger,
poverty, AIDS, and wars.
To them “The Pledge of Allegiance” gives them
what is called “Hope”.
“Hope” that’s called a Nation where the people care.
Care about the Children , all Children of the World.

To them it is important for “The Pledge of Allegiance”
to be said.
The Children of the World want a future,
a future “to Believe”.

“To Believe” that in this World there will be
“Liberty and Justice for all”.
“To Believe” they just can be “Children holding hands”.
Holding hands in a circle with their Friends around the World.
“To Believe” that “Peace can someday rule all lands”.

So the next time you say “The Pledge of Allegiance”,
to the Flag, and to the Republic for which it stands,
think not of only “Words”,
think of all Children of the World, and what it means to them.

How does the bolded fit in with the rest of the post, specifically, the language and resources references?
