my latin professor was talking about a handful of verbs
only a handful that abide by a certain grammar rule
i tried to imagine what a handful of verbs would look like
they'd all be wriggling, trying to free themself
from his hand
because they're verbs; they'd all be moving
squirming
writhing
jumping

but not all verbs move
some of them might be sitting perfeclty still
playing dead
sleeping
lying unconscience

and maybe i should be paying attention
because the talkative verbs might be
yelling "stop staring out the window"
reminding "don't forget to study for the quiz monday"
whispering "he's going to ask you to translate line 12"
