melbourne, terra australis
round your eyes those lines
are prisons for a child
how he danced with abandon
round the fears that now so stiffle you

as delusions spread themselves
with grace across this sterile page
you've got words against the winter's gale
you've just made a big mistake

so you ran from teetering glass and silverware
three paces to the left
you cast your scornful glances homeward
across the barriers caulked with the mortar of your birthright

now suburbs glisten through the walls like tinfoil in the night,
Will you fall into those arms?
They'll fit you like a glove...

I love poetry in lyrics, especially a simple song that describes almost every emotion and motivation about your life.

This is from a song called Barkly Street by a local melbourne band called Things of Stone and Wood.

In the stillness of the evening
When the sun has had its day
I heard your voice whispering...

wow that's really beautiful zoomerang..

round your eyes those lines
are prisons for a child
how he danced with abandon
round the fears that now so stiffle you

exactly how local are they? is there any hope of me hearing their stuff is what I mean

I had a look around and i don't even think they have a website!
Although i did discover they have a new song out, you can listen to it here:

I don't know about it that much, but it's a very "Australian" sounding song!
TOSAW are kind of acoustic/folk/pop. Definately try and listen to the Yearning album somehow, although i just don't know how you'd manage to do it in the states.
