"Above and Below and Everything in Between"

to the heights of the dove
she ascends to the white clouds above
as the wind snaps its teeth
and rips the glue that holds them together
bandaged, he stumbles back to earth
with all his wounds open,
hell was was too deep to climb out of
heaven was too slippy to hold on
rain falls like streams of long goodbyes,
washing away her scars below

he descends to meet her icy kiss
the ice storm tears touch the dawn
awaken the petulent eyes of one
he is beneath her--as the clouds close up
and the sun is gone, the oceans recede
sparks of the moon drain the darkness
fathoms in her soul untouched...
she remembers how to live
and he forgets to breath without her

she dips her plumes in his mercury blood,
stains that drip from her lips
heavy wings, heavy heart
tries to flee gravity's mirth
she is out of reach
time is empty/ her cold eyes match the darkness
she gave away the sun
he smeared it across the freshly fallen snow
regret--thick as space and time

stand above doubt and you may fall
darts scream out of her eyes
shrieking thru his soul
i will never miss you again...
echoed in the sky

wow
that is all I have to say, because I can't describe it

Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground...

I really like this one Wanderer, then again, I always like your poetry. I think the "storyline" came through clearly, although I may not have come up with it exactly as you put it.

hell was was too deep to climb out of
heaven was too slippy to hold on

I really like these lines. They're my favorite but, uh........ slippy ain't a word. lol

------------------
**Still looking for the
face I had before the
world was made....**

**Work like you don't
need money, love like
you've never been hurt,
and dance like no
one's watching.**

AS beautiful as all your poems are.
I hope Babyg and I get a small mention in the dedications in your published works someday.

Dancing barefoot, i do believe 'slippy' is a word. The wanderer just used it and Im sure there is another poet who has used it also.

it's kind of a convoluted story about two lovers and one dies, leaving the other behind for heaven, but part of my intention was for "him" to be her life on earth, so in a way (I am not sure I succeeded or not), the love she is leaving behind is simply life, if that makes any sense

I second the "wow"...

he is beneath her--as the clouds close up
and the sun is gone, the oceans recede
sparks of the moon drain the darkness
fathoms in her soul untouched...

You always write amazing poems.
