literally written in 10 seconds while listening to One from the Pavarotti & Friends concert.
the paint falls flat on the canvas
and the words are weak and hollow
the loss of you inspires me
but nothing seems to capture it.
empty and cold
alone and afraid
all that once brought me comfort
now stands tainted and impure,
forever entwined with the memories of you
to only bring me pain
the melodies and the voice
that I once loved so much
are now haunted with thoughts of you
the tears fall down,
streaming along my cheeks
as the singer wails.
I long to share it with you
even though my heart knows,
you were just a dream
"did I ask too much?
More than a lot?
You gave me nothing
now it's all I got"
I dream of the days long ago
when his songs and your love
wrapped me in warmth, joy and comfort
no more
never more
both of you gone
dreams never last
and sometimes...
even heroes die
