2. If we can have a CD exchange I think we can have a Six Feet Under/ Joyful exchange. I will tape a SFU episode and send it to you. You do have a working vcr?

What a doll! I'm currently all caught up on SFU and didn't pull the cable plug until after the final episode of this season. When the new season starts up in the fall I may take you up on it if I am still happily cable-free but needing an SFU fix.

I have to say, I am loving being without TV. I haven't even wanted to rent a movie or anything. I'm communicating more with people (I now just pick up the phone when it rings instead of screening calls), reading more, cooking more, rediscovering my CD collection, and man, is my house clean and organized! Absence of TV is having a calming effect on me.

$70/mo jeeezzz

It is all about the *blackbox* baby.

BTW - NYC has eliminated all the porn channels...

I had a black box. It cost $70/mo. I also had free-but-illegal cable in NYC and guess what happened? Somebody broke into my apt. and stole the TV. Instant karma got my ass.

Eliminated the porn channels??? You mean no more Robin Byrd?!

I love how all New Yorkers know Robyn Byrd.

No - she is still around and always will be, but the cable companies got rid of Playboy, Spice etc.

How did a black box cost you anything/mo.

When I said black box I do not mean cable box, but an illegal box that gets all the channels for free...

Gotta love Robyn.

Yeah, I was joking about the black box...I meant my little black (cable) box cost $70/mo.

You can connect for alot cheaper w/ AM news radio.

And also by talking to people and reading the newspaper.

I work with a bunch of intellectual down-on-TV types who don't even own TVs and they know everything that's going on. Way more than I did with my TV.

that is such a rotten myth. our weather does change, and quite often. especially in the summer, where the weather channel comes in handy for storm watches. from late august to october we have what we call monsoon season. severe electrical storms that come out of nowhere. and trust me, if you're on one of this area's lakes, you're gonna want to know when that lightning is gonna strike.

oh yeah. and it's hella cold here in the winter, too.

You were responding to my post about there being NO change in weather in LV...and I'm ashamed to admit that I perpetuated the myth because I GREW UP THERE! I know, I know...I should know better. But when I think of home, it's hard to go beyond those 120 degree days that lasted for weeks on end.

<sigh> I DO miss the great lightning storms--where I live now there are hills, etc., so there's no great vista like in Vegas. Oh, and I miss the buffets too
