And with me and the husband, we always disagree on when to do a home test. He wants to wait until I'm 6 months late, I want to do one straight away. The last time, I was late, and coincidentally my blood sugars were really inexplicably high and we were discussing it on the phone and he finally said, "Just do a damn test and ring me when you get home!" I said no, I'd wait and the bsl issue was not related, etc, and it went back and forth. Finally, I agreed but said there was no way I wanted to tell him this over the phone and I'd wait til he got home. He got stubborn again (this was all in good humour, btw), and insisted I go out right away to the chemist and report back with the results. Anyway, off I trotted and had an excellent morning at the local shops. I text messaged him with, "great news! we won $13.40 on ozlotto, I got pulled over for an rbt... and moses says hi!!" We'd started calling this baby moses before it was even in existence as he is the 4th (as in came forth... we're sad, really). OK, so the story may not be that interesting, but we laugh.

:lmao: . . . you're a hoot . . . congrats on number 4 :faint: (you are insane, you realise this  although, technically, insanity is so well entrenched by the time number 3 arrives o its all just a matter of noise levels anyway   )

Here's another random confession,
I'm a recovering annorexic and this October 27th will mark 21 years of recovery for me.

continued strength to you  thats awesome

I always get asked if I'm anorexic by drunks. Somewhat annoying

Today my car was getting pushed around like a bitch with this wind... 100ks an hour.

 . . . my brother was the same . . . he even had the incredibly emasculating nickname of 'Weed' for a while (and no, it was not related to the amount of whackybacky that he inhaled with gusto for a few years there . . . :) )

and ditto to the wind - it scares the pants off me when its like this - hideous :yikes: (losing mah pants aint pretty either  )

ooh, that's good. in practice it might be different, but i think i'd prefer to have the steering wheel on the left, regardless of on what side of the road i'm driving. :hmm:

Do you have a car with gears? I think if I was in an automatic, it would be much easier to drive here. I didn't drive much at home so to get used to driving again in a different car with the gear stick and steering wheel on the other side of the car...that was confusing. I'm sure I'd get used to it but with everything on the other side, the narrower roads, the drivers who are more aggressive and feeling like a learner again, I found it to be really stressful. I didn't crash, or nearly crash and wouldn't drive anywhere with lots of cars or when it's busy to minimise the risk :D I didn't feel confident that's for sure. I always need someone with me because I don't know the roads where we live at all and we don't have big barriers between lanes to indicate where we should be driving. We should though

nope sadly, mine's an automatic. i wanted to buy a manual though but got talked out of it. i can imagine how stressful that'd be. i'm not looking forward to learning how to drive all over again whenever i live in a country where it's all opposite. driving around a touristy area is one thing, but actually living somewhere is another!

are you moving to australia? :)

i see it as an improvement over where i live now. at least scotland doesn't pretend to be a tropical paradise!

i fink youse are both very brave for moving so far away from your home countries

it's likely i'm the only one moving, at least in the short term.

i'm in two minds about how i'll feel once it actually starts to happen, but for now i'm really looking forward to a change.

 i'm sure it'll be really exciting for you both.

we've been here one year and we already discuss the possibilty of moving again on a regular basis. i even like being here. the only thing i hate is being left out because of the language...but i'm starting to work on that.

So I've been busy looking for work and sending out resumes left and right and, up until now, have only heard back from one prospective employer.

I went in for that particular interview, maintained composure, and answered her questions fairly gracefully and with confidence. To my dismay and contrary to what I was led to believe by the interviewer, I didn't hear back from her regarding a second interview. :|

Then, this past week--fed up and feeling somewhat desperate--I opened up the classifieds and came across a suitable opportunity. I called the number listed, talked with the supervisor, and somehow managed to score an interview for the following day. That easy.

I went in for my interview the other day, rather nervous and out-of-sorts. My communication skills proved sub-par (by my standards), whereby I actually minced my words and drew blanks from time-to-time. It just wasn't fluid. All-in-all, I felt quite crappy about how I expressed myself--my nervousness definitely got the best of me.

Well, lo and behold, I just heard back from this last interviewer. She asked me to return for a second interview.

While I'm certainly grateful that I'm being asked to return for a subsequent interview, I'm also extremely confounded. Both places of work being similar in terms of operation and work culture, I would've bet anything that I would've heard back from the former employer, and not the latest one.

I guess it all seems rather arbitrary to me, and, to an extent, I'm sure the whole employment selection process is in reality.

Anyway, wish me luck on getting the job ... 'cause, apparently, that's all it really comes down to. :p:wink:

This is the journalistic standard we expect from you in your chosen career, Dazza....
 hopefully i won't be reporting on those stories.

this is what shits me though. every always talks about a bygone era, but it rings true in some ways. who, really, gives a fuck what they're doing on the wrapper. as long as there isn't a picture of a banana sucking off a strawberry. why do people complain. these women's groups and family groups and church groups who are always outraged must do very little with their time.

^^^ good luck with the job hunting Trip

'Porn' lolly wrappers leave sour taste

one of the funnier news stories i've seen

 . . . I showed my kids that pic, with no sub text offered and they thought it was hilarious . . . in their complete innocence they thought the lemon was just happy to be having a lolly . . .

oh, this, a thousand times this . . . adult filters are never as objective as they should be
