I don't know how I missed this until now, Gluey. I'm now sending twice the ordinary number of hugs your way and I'll be doing a double-time pagan get well song and dance for you too!   Good Luck with all of this and know we're all pulling for you here!

Glad to hear things are looking up, Gluey  You sound strong and optimistic, I have a feeling you'll be just fine  Good luck and more happy vibes coming your way.

 Thanks guys...you're awesome for support. There's been a couple of times in the middle of the night when my mind has been overworking with it all, and all I have to do is come here and know I'm surrounded by a bunch of awesome people

I'm still waiting to hear from the specialist for my next appointment - I think the waiting is the worst part...

I know what you mean gluey and I find myself here a lot at times like that. It's wonderful to have it to rely on isn't it? Well, time will tell and all you have to do is hurry up wait and be patient. Positive vibes continue, take care and keep us posted!

I only just saw this- since last week and this past week , less time to mosey around on the Net & interland.
oh gluey, I'm SO sorry.....and yeah, wow, after going through that back surgery.....

I'll get my prayer team up & running for you.

I'm glad you have a good grasp of your condition & procedure.

BIG {{{ :hug:S }}} your way, along with  er's and ~*~*GOOD VIBES *~*~!!!

I'll keep checking back here.

and glad you have only mild side-effects......you sound like you have a strong constitution in that you recovered well from your back surgery, so that's a plus.

Get Borion's (European) Homeopathic Medicine
ARNICA MONTANA 30C
it's for helping the body to heal from physical trauma

MY SIS & Mom have taken for their major surgeries, and I {very luckly to be surgery-free}..........

I have used it for heavy dental work. I've never needed to use much asprin at all (if any) after the numbing shots wore off, let alone even the Asprin w Coedine they usually write script for.

I'll ask my sis when you start it -if you are interested in this.

It's actually quite normal to go up through the groin for heart procedures. The main artery is within easy access and it's not a major for them to feed the catheter up into the heart. A hell of a lot less traumatic and painful than open heart surgery. Angioplasty is done this way too. Definitely my choice of entry!

Having had both procedures, I would say a catheter through the groin is a piece of cake, not painful or traumatic at all and actually quite interesting. I was awake but nicely sedated and my cardiologist encouraged me to watch the catheter on the monitor as it traveled through my body.

The worst part of the entire thing was laying perfectly still for 6 or 8 hours afterward with a heavy pad over the incision site, and only because I was bored out of my mind!

And I can also add that I know EXACTLY how scary this is and I know about those middle of the night thoughts that pop up but you are going to come out of this just fine. I'll keep you in my thoughts and if you have any questions, no matter how small, just ask.

Good luck

 Thanks for your post BAW

I'm in two minds about it all. Half of me is scared shitless about someone mucking around with my heart, and the other half of me is really intrigued by the surgery and keen to get it all over with.

I'll make sure I take my ipod with me to kill the boredom - I won't know much else about what to expect until after I've met the surgeon.

And you hit the nail on the head with the thoughts. I spend my days being as busy as I can (and it's a struggle thanks to the meds I'm on to slow me down!). It's the middle of the night thoughts that creep up and scare the hell out of you. I can count the amount I've times I've had 'worst case scenarios' go through my head. I know I'll be fine but I look at my hubby and my babies and I get scared.

Once I've met the surgeon I will probably PM you if you don't mind, with any questions I may have.

Thanks again for your support.

PM me anytime, I'm more than happy to answer questions or just listen and offer my support.

In the meantime, until you see your surgeon, try to stay busy and keep your thoughts positive.

 Positive thoughts will always do good Gluey! and it's true that a catheter trough the groin is the most easy access to the aorta, it's mostly straight up, so doesn't seem like much toughness to do...

and I might be biased cause I"m a science geek, but it's mighty interesting to watch somethign moving inside of your body
:lmao: I'm that geeky that cause of BAw's story I'd love to see that myself someday!

I've been to see the surgeon. I have Proxysmal Atrial Tacyhcardia. I'm booked for surgery on 21st May. Fingers crossed it works. It's the hardest one to find and treat but at least it's not fatal!
