My wife and I broke up when I left for boot camp in 1989. We had been dating for almost 10 months. I did not want any Dear John letters.

Boy did we exchange letters. I still have them today. Through those letters we fell in love. It is interesting that those letters we wrote after we broke up meant so much to me. When I returned home we got ourselves back together. Four years later we were married.
