On Monday, I decided it was time to curb my addiction. For some people it's cigarettes. Others, alcohol. Some porn, some drugs.

For me it was fast food.

It's not something that's affecting me weight at all, but I'm afraid it's severely hampering my healthiness. On Monday I decided I'm going to not eat fast food for a month.

If you think it's not as addicting as some of the previously mentioned things, think again.

I don't know why I posted this. Just letting everyone know about my quest.

i've given up fast food on a daily basis. its hard work but is worth it. it can be done.

Hey, I respect that. I know I'm going to run into some fast food on my vacation to Maine, but I will just have to remember how crappy I feel after eating it. I had a lot recently, and ugh...

I think I might have to give it up, too.

Be strong

if people just gave up fast food, regular soda, and dessert they would be well on their way to being healthy

:lmao:

Chizip, I hear you on the fast food and dessert thing. But regular soda?

Everyone knows I can't live without my Dr Pepper.

Off topic, but I'm glad we get along now, zoney.

Most American food contains MSG, even so when it is NOT listed as an ingredient.
Proving thus, American food is fattening and addicting.
Diet sodas are proven worse than regular sodas. Aside from the false sugar contributing to cancer, the body does not know how to digest the false sugar either, meaning it will turn it into immediate fat sugars.
There was a study, they put about 10 people on a special soda diet study. Five people were to drink diet sodas for 2 weeks while the other five people drank regular soda for the same duration, and surprisingly enough, the five people that drank regular soda remained the same weight while the people on diet GAINED a couple of pounds.

Soda is HORRIBLE if you are trying to lose weight. All that sugar.

Otherwise...you just needed to get used to me IMP13 :D

This isn't about losing weight. I think I'm fine in that department. It's just about not feeling like a piece of shit after shoving several burgers down my throat.

So the Dr Pepper stays!

I have been on a diet since march 1st and I have lost nearly 50 pounds.(15 more to go). I know you said it doesnt affect your weight but it would when you get older.(It affected me since birth, lol) And it is a change for the better. Keep it up:up:

Congratulations. I wish you well.

I don't eat junk food except for chocolate. Once you haven't eaten crap for a while you won't crave it anymore. In fact if you do give up junk food and then after a couple of months if you eat some junk you can taste how disgusting it really it is. The fat is really present and unpleasant.

As for not needing to lose weight, I find it annoying that most of the "health" books are about losing weight. Its really difficult to find books about healthy eating that doesn't involve losing weight.

There is so much more to health than just weight.

I wish you well on improving your health.

I stopped too.

The last time I ordered fast food, the greasy bag with the food in it stained my passenger car seat.

I HATE it when that happens......tho the worst for me was rushing home, picking the bag with the Indian in off the seat, closing the car door, and the bottom fell out of the bag...resulting in the enitre £45 meal spilling all over the road.

:sigh:
