I'm looking for some help in deciding on a good wildlife conservation group to volunteer with. I know there are quite a few and I'll probably have to see if there is something available in my area to really decide, but I'm trying to avoid being with a bunch of crazies and get some really good experience doing SOMEthing in conservation. Any suggestions?

Yeah, there are lots of good groups out there. Think it just depends if you want to stay local or not. If you're in Illinois you might want to check out http://www.ilcf.org/ or http://dnr.state.il.us/volunteer/index.htm. Maybe even contact one of the zoos in your area, they might have some good opportunities available or at least might know of some specific programs they could direct you to. I hope you find an organization you like :)

I would check with the DNR and see if they recommend any local orgs. There's a lot of groups with the best of intentions, but aren't always aware of certain laws and restrictions about local animals and plants.
