Okay, two years ago, my best friend was basically dumped by one guy and then she met and decided to marry another guy over the next month and a half. This is where we ceased to be friends. I said some things I shouldn't have about the situation, and we shared some choice words....and hadn't talked since. I had feelings for her, and there were other factors involved, including the fact that I think we just plain got on each other's nerves.

Anyways, fast forward to this past Monday,I'm sitting at the bar at a local restaurant (eating lunch, not drowning my sorrows), and I look over and she's sitting next to me. We both make awkward small talk, and she says she's in a hurry, and leaves. Fortunately, she called me after going home to find my cell number. We talked for a while, and patched things up....even laughing about them. I've talked to her a few times since, and am still in shock and disbelief that I am actually talking to her again. I had all but written it off (maybe underestimating her ability to forgive me for being an asshole at times). I am genuinely happy for her now (and her new family) and am happy not to play the part of the jealous friend to her anymore. I still think of her like a sister, and have for over ten years now. She could have easily walked out of the restaurant, and I wouldn't have been the wiser. I've been in such a better mood lately without the whole thing in the back of my mind. We both have our faults when it came to being friends, but they don't seem to show anymore. It doesn't seem like it's been two years, either...

An interesting sidenote-I stopped at Wal-Mart on the way home to pick up a few things. I decided to get the new Dave Matthews Band (Stand Up). I haven't been to keen on Matthews lately, but I chose that one for some reason. Anyways, later that night, "Stolen Away On 55th And 3rd" plays, and this song was about that day...about running into an old friend! I was floored. I've never heard a song for the first time that described exactly what I was feeling....and it wasn't even U2! I thought that was cool.

Anyways, just a good thing that happened to me..thought I'd share. Thanks for reading...

STOLEN AWAY ON 55TH & 3RD
Hello again
Seems like forever between now and then
You look the same
I mean you look different but you haven't changed
Funny to think how the time gets away
Funny how you take me right back again

Stole me away
First time i saw you you did me that way
What should i say
I saw you laughing and i was afraid
I might get in the way

I did not think i would see you again
So how have you been
Do you remember ...
and
How's everything
Funny i think how time gets away
Funny how you take me right back again

Stole me away
First time i saw you you did me that way
What should i say
Saw you there dancing but i was afraid
I might get in the way

I did not think i would see you again
Funny to think how the time gets away
Funny how you take me right back again
Funny the feeling when forever ends
You stole me away
First time I saw you you did me that way
What should i say
Saw you there dancing but i was afraid
I might get in the way

Never thought i would see you again
So how have you been
Watching the years as they trickle away
It's everything
how the time gets away
Funny how you take me right back again

Steal me away

It's like the first time i saw you you do me that way
What should i say
I see you here standing and I am afraid
I might get in your away

I never thought i would see again
How have you been
Do you remember i mean everything
You steal me away
Like the first time i saw you
you do me that way
What can i say
I see you standing here and I am afraid
I might get in your away

Very cool, Nate. It always feels good to patch up a rough spot with an old friend.

What a nice post, she's probably lucky to have a friend like you :)

I bought that CD - I don't own any other Dave Matthews CD's, and I love that song
