I don't usually post here but here goes. I have been fighting what was originally misdiagnosed as a disc problem in my back since Oct. After undergoing two epidurals, which made it worse rather than better, my doctor sent me to a neurosurgeon. Now, this is taking way more time than it should because everything has to be preauthorized by my insurance. I saw the neurosurgeon on the ninth of March. He became alarmed because I have what is referred to as "foot drop". This is a new development. He said how long have you not been able to walk on your left heel. I said I don't know, no one ever checked before. (The neurosurgeon is the third specialist I have seen). He immediately sent me for yet another MRI and later the same day called to tell me there is no disc problem and I am now seeing a neurologist this week. The thought is that it is possibly ALS, MS, or even Parkinson's. I am really depressed. I have been off work since Feb. 16 because I can't lift much and now have trouble keeping my balance. Sorry this is so long but it feels better putting my frustrations in writing.

I'm sorry to hear it. I hope the neurosurgeon is just being overreactive.

 I've been reading about your ordeal in PLEBAns and it sounds absolutely terrible! I had a pinched nerve during gymnastics for an entire season so I can relate to the frusteration. You try to do something you're so used to doing, like just walking on your hands, and all the sudden pain is shooting up your back and down your legs and there's nothing you can do. I hope you'll find out it's something they can fix.

I hope it's something that can be fixed too. My poor husband just keeps looking at me and sighing. Hope he's not regretting marrying an older woman.

my hubby suffers from chronic pain.
the reason i say that is because your spouse will feel frustrated about your pain because there is nothing he can do for you . if your worried about that just hold out your hand and say i love you.....im glad your here for me. sometimes its all ya can say and its good enough
i hope this is something they can fix too....it sounds really painful.
they had trouble finding what was wrong with chris ( husband) and one of the doctors who did one of his five surgeries...did something wrong...hard to say just what it was. he cut a wrong nerve , something along those lines

anyway....try to think positive thoughts and dont be afraid to lean on others for suppot and an ear to bend...

Dr's can be such a pain in the ass.

You seem to have a good sense of humor. Try to keep laughing.

U2granny, I was having the same problem you are, a few years back. I was diaagnosed with Drop Foot. I was fitted for a brace that I wore for 2 months and I am doing fine now. I hope this makes you feel better.

 U2granny  I know it's frustrating to deal with disabling pain while you wait for your doctors to come up with SOMETHING to explain or ease your discomfort...I'm so sorry you're having to go through this!

Hopefully you've been properly diagnosed now & like tiny dancer will be good as new soon. Best wishes for your speedy recovery!

Sorry to hear things are getting complicated, u2granny. I really hope you get real treatment soon and that what is bothering you is easily treatable.

I'll be thinking of you.

:bump:

Well, here's the update and it's not good. The neurologist ordered an mri of the spot that was actually causing all the pain. I got the results Friday and there are tumors on my left kidney. I am being sent for an ultrasound next.

Gosh, that's an ordeal. I hope you get this resolved and feel better soon. I'm still dealing with this whole stupid shingles thing after ten months so I know the frustration of not being able to get rid of a very annoying health problem.

Time for prayer and you're on our list....

U2Granny, I'm so sorry your having to go thru all of this. You will definetly be in my prayers!! Sending good thoughts your way.

As for your hubby, Carrie was right. Keep affirming that you love him and his support is the best thing he can do for you during all of this. I have FMS, which involves alot of chronic pain and doctor visits, after living with it for many years my husband has finally learned to just give me lots of hugs and reassurance. But the road has to go both ways. I'm sure he loves you and just feels frustrated that he can't make you feel better.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Hoping for a good outcome to this very scary diagnosis.

what a bunch of brave women we have here...
someone said god never gives us more than he thinks we can handle

all of you that are dealing with these issues are in my thoughts and prayers..my husband has chronic pain after five surgeries and countless doctor and physical therapy visits.
its makes my mind go blank when i think hes on 32..and walks like hes 62( his pain stems from a bundle of nerves near his groin and continue down his leg)- i have to think...what will this amount to later?
