Bumping this to say that I'm taking the day to adjust a couple of issues with the bracket. Because I'm lazy as shit sometimes, I straight up didn't notice that the Muldfeld thread I picked frankly wasn't the thread I thought it was and just went by the title. Because we're still in round 1, I can move things around/add/remove things before it causes serious issues down the road, so I'm going to consider a few of the threads mentioned in here and in the polls as possible replacements, as well as adjust the seeding slightly. Again, it becomes impossible to fix anything once every thread has had a match, so I'd like to do it now.

If you've got any further suggestions for replacement threads, now would be the time to post them, but man I really love that Zoomerang thread. It's completely unlike everything else in the competition too; it's pure douchebaggery instead of insanity.

Though my favourite thread of hers is already in the rounds I think. The Sexual messages in U2 songs thread where she keeps insisting it's impossible for a female to receive oral while standing up. She just kept hammering on how that cannot happen. :lol:

As it should be, the closest and most potentially heartbreaking match is the last one, with two seeds that were right next to each other. The problem with that is that they're both TOO GOOD, and we're likely to have our finals in the quarterfinals. :doh:

Otherwise, it looks pretty balanced. I think the final will still be good, just not as good as winner of match 1 and match 8 plans to be.

I probably missed the bit where you worked out how to set up which threads against which other threads, but how have you worked it out? Is it random, or have you put threads you think will be equally popular together or...?

Basically, the template was March Madness-style high seed (lowest number) vs. low seed (highest number), with the assumption that the #1 seed would eventually play #2. Obviously, that doesn't work out perfectly because my perceptions of what would perform the best (1 should beat 32 and so on) aren't at all perfect, though I have been right often enough to justify the model (8-3 so far). I probably should have categorized the threads and matched them up accordingly instead of just guessing, but as we proceed, the model will matter less and less anyway because the quality of the competition will be so close. It'll just be good shit vs. other good shit.

It fell together like this:

In some cases, yes (Sexual Messages got a bunch of nominations, which is why it wound up as high as it did, only to lose). Others by broadness of appeal (Business Trips being the top seed instead of something like Shuttlecock) or historical significance (Fake Edge). It's incredibly subjective, but also based on a consistent set of criteria. I mean, a couple of these threads aren't THAT entertaining, but they mean a lot to people. I tended to place them lower because they really fell short in a number of areas, though they would be guaranteed some love.
