I still have to see Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, although I'm not in such a big hurry - his first Halloween remake didn't do much for me.

It was that film that did it. I'd never been so terrified by a film in all of my life. Nor perhaps have I been sense.

I couldn't sleep the night I watched it. I kept seeing that clown everytime I closed my eyes.

The next night was almost as bad.

I ended up reading the book to try and get some peace on the subject and that worked pretty well.

Then I became a mega King fan, but now I'm beginning to turn on him the more I delve into his career.

Anyways, I think the reason that the film version of Pennywise is SO scary is because Tim Curry handles the role in the same way he does EVERY role of his, so it made the character far too familiar and realistic for me, as a huge Curry fan.

The Halloween (it's either 4 or 5) where they have the little psychic girl, is just awful. And it's on EVERY YEAR.

The original is so badass. The atmosphere Carpenter created in the film is one of a kind. It was filmed in California, but it fucking feels like Illinois.

Yeah, I think she's in both - Danielle Harris. Turner Classic Movies wouldn't stop playing those for a time, even when it was nowhere near Halloween season. That network has incredibly low standards for the term "classic."

I watched 4 ONCE and I don't remember a damn thing that happens in it. And I tried to watch the 5th one once and it just wasn't happening.

I remember that the actor who played Michael in 4 or 5 moved like a damned robot. How bad do you have to be to suck at playing Michael Myers?

As I recall, the only thing 5 had going for it was that you saw Meyer's face? Or something like that. I don't even recall said event.

Seems right. On the other hand, you see his face in the first one, even if it is only for a half a second.

EDIT: Ah, you beat me to it.

That's the thing yeah, you do see his face in the original, so what my post originally should have said was that 5 has NOTHING going for it.

Exactly. It was a breakthrough film as well, inspiring loads of crappy copycats. I still think of Jason Voorhees as a Michael Myers ripoff.

The scariest movie I ever saw was "The Exorcist"--and I will NEVER watch it again! :yikes:

A few weeks ago when we were at Disney World, we went to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. Before you scoff, just let me say that people are seriously into costumes for that shindig. Since we flew to/from Florida, we had very limited space for costumes--so we ended up in those lame false nose/glasses/eyebrows/moustaches. But it was fun, and we got tons of candy! :hyper:

Absolutely. The Friday the 13th series was a total ripoff, in an attempt to cash in. And it worked, because those movies were successful.

Like I said a couple pages ago, I watched a couple of them last week and I find them entertaining enough. It's cheesy '80s stuff, and there are cute girls runnin around.

All this talk of the Halloween movies, and AMC is running 4 and 5 back to back starting in an hour. I might actually sit down and watch a little bit of it, just because of this conversation.

The decor at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland during October is neat too.

Check out cinemassacre.com - they have a great series on crappy 70's and 80's horror movies. Some really crazy, obscure stuff that I now feel compelled to watch.

Yay! I'll DVR, although I'm assuming we're talking about the remake.

Right now I'm watching Nightmare Before Christmas, I'm probably gonna follow that up with The Ring or Donnie Darko.

I swear, the first time I watched it I understood it a lot more than on subsequent viewings, but it's one of my favorites because of the atmosphere, performances and especially the dialogue.

My 8-year-old nephew is going to be Michael Myers. I didn't want to ask how he knows who that is.
He's excited to have his machete though. :yikes:

My 4 & 1/2 year old nephew wants to be Jason from Friday the 13th :|
His 7 year old brother is going to be Freddy Kreuger.

I was like, 'Do you even know who Jason is?' and he said 'yeah, he wears a hockey mask and carries a machete'

Boys will be boys. :crack:

I'm pretty sure I was a "Kooky Spook" with the dumb inflatable head at 8 years old. I remember the horrible yellow face paint. I probably will get face cancer from it someday.

This Halloween has been awesome so far.

I saw a stage production of Rocky Horror at a great little local theater just off the strip, this weekend I'm taking a road trip to see the caves (and hopefully a few bats) at Mitchell Caverns, and for the first time in probably fifteen years I will be celebrating Halloween grown-up style, with friends, in a costume, at a casino bar.

Now I just need a costume.

I just got through watching REC, other than being completely nauseated, I will say it is indeed the best 'found footage' horror I've seen.

It's supposed to rain both Friday and Saturday night. :scream:

I just got all upset for a minute, then realized that the weather isnt the same all over the continent :coocoo:

That sucks though, Sicy. Make sure to bring an afro pick with you
