Hmmm, I'll have to think.
Really, it's always about how can I better simplify this equation?
So if you wanted to collect like terms on one side, but there's a number in the way, we'll hey, you can eliminate it (sometimes)! Similarly, if you make denominators the same, it makes the math a whole lot easier.
It's a logic process and it takes practice.

I'm not sure I have any specific tips per se, except for keep practicing and you'll get it with time.

If you want to PM or post an example, I'll try my best to explain (and remember ) how I would approach it.

Also, I'm considering grad school, does anyone have any advice?
I'd also appreciate any tips anyone might have about the MCAT...practice book recommendations maybe?

Thx!

Any freelance writers out there?
What would be standard pay for a short article?

I was wondering if any had any tips for test anxiety? I usually have a hard time with test, espiecally in a class room full of people, so I now go and take the test in the disability office, but because my corases this summer are at night its kind of hard to do so, one professor lets me do it the next day in the office, the other prefers me to do it the same day in the class room and if I need more time I can do it in a lab room after class which I cant cause I have a class right after.

So I need some tips anyway to help with my anxiety?

I usually try to encourage myself. I say things like, "AC, don't let this test conquer you, you are a smart woman, you studied night and day, go in that classroom and do your thing." I find that if I'm scared right before an exam, I totally freeze. I literally blank out and can't remember a thing. Encouraging myself "snaps" me out of that fear. After I've completed one exam question, I start feeling confident, then I go on to the next one. Each question I complete, my confidence shoots up. I just have to keep saying positive things to myself.

I know it sounds silly, but sometimes it works to be your own cheerleader.

Good luck with your summer class. I'm taking my last 3 hours for the Summer I session right now, and commencement is in August.

no, it's just a 30 pages seminar thesis ('the influence of culture on marketing communications'). I need this for my bachelor degree...I'll hopefully be able to start my MBA next summer.
What are you studying AC? (if I may ask)

^ Hmmmm, that almost sounds like social marketing. I'm thinking maybe you have to discuss different marketing practices used by businesses to better communicate with people from different cultural/racial backgrounds? Or maybe you have to discuss how globalization is causing the business and medical communites to re-tool their marketing strategies (i.e. printing brochures and applications in Spanish rather than English only? Running media ads in languages other than English? Using popular electronic devices or social websites? Supporting social causes/charities that are important to the specific populations they are trying to reach?) Am I in the ballpark?

If this is what you have to touch on in your thesis, I can recommend a couple of social marketing books. I had to take 6 hours in Social Marketing and Health Communications. The textbooks for those classes were very in-depth, and they might help you. Granted these books only focus on marketing & communication in the healthcare field, the principles are the same as in the general business field.

I am completing my M.S. in Clinical Nutrition. I have a Master's in Public Health and worked as a WIC Nutritionist after I graduated. I partcipated in a number of research projects that targeted people with nutritional deficiencies (people with HIV or full-blown AIDS, cancer patients, rural populations, pre-term babies, low-income families, people diagnosed with digestive problems), and decided to pursue a degree in that field. Now I work as a Nutritionist for an oncology group in Middle TN.

oh, I thought you are also doing business. But your degree sounds very interesting!
yeah, we focused on the marketing practices and the cultural backgrounds. I also started thinking about globalization and how I can put it into my text, but this is too big a subject to put it briefly imo. There is a lot of theory concerning different communication styles and their background ( i. e. political systems, social norms). The second half is about media selection/ advertising and there was this study about humor in advertisements my prof gave me in the basic literature. Imo, it is not that interesting, but she gave it to me, so I think I should use it lol! I haven't thought about the aspect of supporting social causes/charities etc. but this is nice input. Actually I have to email her the first part tonight. But maybe I could use some of these social marketing books for the second part (this will be a case study, but I don't know more yet.)

Globalization is a rather broad subject. Can you narrow it down to two-three different racial/cultural groups and describe how organizations can market their services to those specific groups?

Let's say for example, a new community health center (you know I have to sneak in healthcare somewhere ) is opening in an area populated by Alaskan Natives/Native Americans. How can the leaders of the new health facility sell themselves to the target community? What cultural competencies need to be identified and included in the marketing plan? The use of natural and holistic medicine is common in Native American culture, so how can the new clinic market their own health services while still being sensitive to the cultural healthcare practices of the people they are trying to serve?

That could be one example of how people from different cultural backgrounds are making an impact on the way businesses market their products/services.

Have you gotten more info from your instructor about the media part of the paper?

*Sorry for the late reply. Between my class, job, weekend activities, and a sick husband, I'm going into overload .

thanks, for replying.
well, she said like nothing what we should do in the last paper, but she gave me short text about the 'globe study' (with a note: this might help you connecting cultural issues to advertising). so, I think I should give this study as an example and connect some essential finding with i.e. the Hofstede dimensions and maybe also Hall's low/high context cultures.
I like your example AC! I'll talk to my friend tomorrow and we'll think about it.
But our first paper was surprisingly good so far.

Nah, cos I had volenteered for it thinking "give it a go", but it was seriously above my level of knowledge. It expected you to be well read, and reference books you have read in your answers. I read dick all, so it was kind of impossible for me to answer.

Also, the effort didnt really equal the outcome. You dont get a mark up to your final grade, just 30 more UCAS (like, uni points) points. Its more for all the students who get A grades, as a means of putting yourself above others with A grades to get uni places. And since I dont get A's, thats another reason not to bother.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Your instructor is also giving you good feedback and is keeping you on the right path . My curiosity is peaked, and I want to know how this assignment plays out. What is your classification?
