Beautiful flower pictures, Beli!

Dogwood blossoms from early May:

Found some old pictures and scanned them--ewings' son Matt, swandiver's daughter Jenn, and my son Shawn--they are now 31, 36, and 38, respectively.

This one was damaged, but I still like it.

Springtime dogwood blossoms on the road up the mountain to Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, in Virginia:

I didn't take this one, but it's a good view of Monticello:

That is a gorgeous shot of Monticello. I loved it there when we visited. We had a picnic nearby. It was so beautiful and I remember it was SO HOT!!

You must have gone in July or August. The last time we were there, it was July; we had to wait in line out in the sun, and I thought I was gonna pass out!

Some winter pictures near our Anderson home place in Virginia.

yes it was July in fact. My cousin got married at the Naval Academy Chapel (that was one of the most beautiful coolest weddings I have ever witnessed) and we stayed with family in Alexandria and Springfield VA.

This is the crape myrtle tree in front of my dining room window. Every February my DD chops it down to where the branches come out of the main trunk. The first year I came home and saw that I nearly fainted! It's already roof-high again!

The view from my office building ... the *other* side from my office (I overlook the parking lot) One of my new bosses had to move from this office. I told him I would have refused!

Purple is my least favorite color but I saw this lily, stopped as I walked past, and went back to it. I love the contrast and thankfully I got the focus right! I was not sure how to crop it, b/c I wanted the focus to be on those thingies in the middle. I think it looks a little better cropped closer, even though the edges of the petals and that long thing are off the edge.

Look closely and you will see a spider and a web. I'm still getting the hang of my true manual focus

My dog in my yard. It was so insanely humid this day, you can see the mist on the grass and the air looked misty like an enchanted fores.

Last month I went out to a farm to have Kenya tested on sheep. First time visiting a real farm with horses and such (I know...I'm 23 years old!!).

The light coming in this barn door was very direct and harsh so I made all these black and whites.

PS can you guys tell me if those sets of pics look OK as far as brightness, color, etc? I do all my pics on my laptop, but I notice they look different on my Mac and on my other PC at work. I guess it all depends on the monitor settings and gamma, but I'd like to use a "happy medium". I had several of my photos printed a few weeks ago and was pleased, but sometimes when I see them on another screen, it's like "hmmm, that is not how I remember that photo looking!"

They are wonderful and I find the colours impressive. Especially the purple one. Which camera do you use?

It's right, colours do look different on different monitors. There is a device setting monitor colors as the should be, but that is very expensive.

I've compared some of the pictures between my normal monitor, at 17' flat screen from Benq, and my laptop, a 15.4' inch from HP. The Benq has better contrast, nicer colors and more intensity. On the laptop it is lighter and the colors are a bit different either.

A gorgeous bunch of pictures, Lies--thank you! I especially like the water drops.
And the picture of your hand (?) holding the maple seed is very familiar--we have those all over the yard each spring; some of them have even lodged in the cracks between the stones on the patio and started growing little maple trees!

Thanks guys!

VV - those pics were all taken with a Panasonic FZ50. I also use a Canon A460 and all my photos up until mid-March are with a Canon S1. I bought a new flash and bounce from my boss last week so now I am learning flash.

Thank you very much. The Panasonic looks interesting, though at the moment a bit above my price range. The Canon S1 would suit my pocket better, though I guess I will stay with the camera I'm currently longing for, the Olympus SP-560UZ, which I am planning to purchase when I'm in the US (at current exchange rates it's a steal).

For me it was between the Panasonic FZ50 and the Canon S5. I got the FZ50 because it did a few things that the S5 does not, and feels one step closer to an SLR. I think I would have been perfectly happy with the S5 as well.
