Hey, kids. I am driving up to Milwaukee, tomorrow, from Chicago. Catching a show by a little Welsh outfit called Los Campesinos!. They're playing Turner Hall Something-or-Other. I forget. Anyway, I am looking for some advice, because I haven't been to Milwaukee since the summer of 2001, and I hardly remember the joint.

Mostly, I'm wondering if anybody can suggest any good record stores. So, can you? Like, records. Any baller joints? I am thinking about heading up a little bit early, if there are any really great places worth checking out. Wouldn't mind taking a look at some cool stuff.

What about good places to eat (for cheap)? Particularly in the vicinity of the theatre at which the show is being held? Any input is welcome.

Thanks, Milwaukee-ites. Like I said, any and all input is welcome. Not to mention greatly appreciated. Woop woop.

Unfortunately, the greatest record store in Milwaukee, Atomic Records, closed a few months ago. :(

It's been 9 years since I've lived in the area, so I don't know what else has popped up. But I do mourn Atomic Records.

It's the only major American city to have ever elected three Socialist mayors. And they have a Major League baseball team. And lots of beer.

Maybe check out Yelp.com to see if there are some locally-recommended record shops there?
