Woah... I remember that article back from when I was still buying Rolling Stone. He was saying how U2 managed to reinvent themselves brilliantly with AB while still keeping their sound or something along these lines. Didn't realise that all this drama was happening behind the stage!

I still like me some Powderfinger, though they're too meat-and-potatoes to really keep my interest.

so, oprah is going to film at least one show in one of the world's most iconic cities, sydney.

we can call that a win for melbourne.

lol Sydney an "íconic" city. Also the only Olympic city to see a decline in tourist numbers after they hosted thee event.

You smashin' up Pyramid too, Cobble? Line up is average I reckon, but gonna be a fairly intense couple of days!

i hope it's one of the oprah episodes where she buys stuff for her guests, like a railway line.

so that's how Sydney will get it's groove back

Maxine McKew - How Sydney can get its groove back

although I have my suspicions that it will turn into a kangaroo / koala / gday matefest, it may well be the kick in the backside Australian tourism needs. . . not entirely sure that she needed to bring 300 squealy audience members with her ~ I have a bucket load of friends already hyperventilating with glee over the prospect of an Oprah at The Opera House show (I, quite happily, have a date with 4 Irishmen that day . . .14 December ) ~ and am already dreading the wall to wall coverage of the teeniest Oprah details that will dominate on every network here, but ah, what the hell hey?

Does anyone know which part of Australia Inte is parochial about? I don't think he's ever dropped any hints.

no. it's a flat-out lie. shit like this makes me never want to visit melbourne with the attitudes of some of the people who live there.

score one for sydney i guess.

but anyway, i thought this was called "let's talk about australia" not "let's talk shit about every city but melbourne"? if it's the latter then i'll show myself out.

When I was in Hobart I heard from some Launcestonians that they have wild monkeys up in their town. Like, they escaped from the zoo yonks ago and now they're just all over the place. Can anyone confirm this, or were they pulling my leg?

And please don't post a LMGTFY link, because everyone knows there's no internet in Tasmania.
