At the industrial egg-production level, male chicks are separated from females and go straight into the macerator.

Something I keep in reserve to tell over-zealous vegetarians who think of me as a meat-eating barbarian as they pluck away at their fluffy egg omlets with fork in hand

I pretty much didn't eat egg while I was vegetarian because I knew about all this process and it grossed me the hell out. Like, even more than just chomping on a beef shank would.

I dunno, eating eggs always felt like eating a foetus to me.
