I like Ziva a lot. I like names with sharp, clear sounds and two syllables. I don't think it matters which NV prairie. Unlike other foods with different "flavors", all NV prairie varieties have the same amounts of protein, etc. so they are supposed to be easier (if not seamless) to go from one flavor to the next without it affecting the dog. I got the Lamb b/c I use lamb formulas for my other dogs (and it was the top bag, we didn't feel like rearranging them again) but we used to use the chicken one.

that stuff you wrote for the website sounds good, Lies. You've added an obvious GSD bias, you do realise!
Been meaning to ask you, are all your dogs outdoor dogs during the day while you're at work/Phil uni?

Benjamin is adorable. The pups are all sweet, too.

Definitely but I'd used the exact same criteria for any breed I'm interested in (Malinois, Schipperke, English Setter...). The only big difference would be a true toy/companion dog will not have any working titles (well there is a Companion Dog title, but it's an obedience title and doesn't evaluate temperament).

Nope, my dogs and cats are never outdoors unsupervised. I'm not sure what the leash law is exactly but in many places dogs cannot be left out tethered or unsupervised for over a certain amount of time. They get sufficient exercise and work so they sleep during the day (when I am home sick that is all they do even if I think it might be nice to get some fresh air). They have not been crated at all for a few weeks now but they are crated this morning with Nikon facing them so he can see that it's OK to be crated.

Nikon is beautiful!!! And he looks so cuddly too.

When we picked out Samson, he was actually the smallest male too. The breeder said he was a "slow" eater, but we liked his colouring the best and we did a couple of tests with the puppies and thought he was the smartest (like for example, throw a tennis ball against a wall a few times, so it bounces back. The puppies will fight over it, but after 3 or 4 tries, the smart ones are going to realize that the ball is coming at them and instead of running madly towards the wall will hang out back a bit and simply wait for the bounce to deliver it). Anyway, we brought him home and my Mom thought she'd have to coax him to eat and I swear to you he ate like he'd been starving his whole life! He gained soooo much weight and became quite a large dog. I think he was just not as interested in eating when there were playmates around.

Take more pics! I want to cuddle him.

We picked him for me b/c he is the most "typey" as far as being a German dog. The dam is quite large, so I was worried that the bigger boy would go over size. That doesn't DQ him but if the judge measures he can take it into account.

I weighed him today by weighing myself and it said he's 21.4 lbs. We're going to the vet this afternoon.

He is a big brat right now, lol. I was actually relieved to leave this morning. I waited outside the door for a few minutes and he howled and howled.

Coke and Kenya like him or don't really care. He's just kind of there. He's started barking at the cats so we've had some words (or rather, scruffings) about that! Beckham did punch him in the face once so that was good.

Puppies really are a lot of work. But they can be so fun.

Does he like to jump on people or has he not yet gotten to that fun stage?

i honestly think puppies can be more work than babies. i'm not exaggerating. my two were testing as pups. very testing. lots of work, socialisation, destruction, teaching, cleaning, vet checks, shots, walking...

Well he only comes halfway to my knees but yes, he jumps on my legs when he's tired and too lazy to walk. I just kind of kick him off. Usually I make him walk. I carry him if I'm worried he might pee, or if we're in the pet store b/c he shouldn't touch the floor yet.

I want to take a nap sooooo bad right now b/c he's sleeping. I've gotten 6 hrs of sleep total the past two nights.

I'm basically a single mom to three dogs right now b/c Phil is so busy with school and the pup needs a schedule of eating and pottying. Plus he has to be watched every second because he chews everything. I have to ask Phil to watch him just so I can use the bathroom.
