Apparently you divide the cake mix into little bowls, add colouring to each then combine it back together in the tin. I'd like to give it a go one day, but I dont think the UK has such technocolour food colouring as the US. :hmm: Google "rainbow cake", it brings up more pics and details. :)

have you tried a cake decorating store for colors? I make this cake all the time, especially when it's for a kid's birthday. They go nuts over it more so than what the outside looks like.

Here's the batter in the pan...you just start in the middle and keep adding your other colors to the middle of the pan. It all eventually spreads out to make the lines.

This was for my family otherwise I never would have done the center layer like this. I was going to make 2 rainbow cakes but ended up only needing one so I decided to make this cake really tall by using a layer that didn't match.

^Totally delicious, totally decadent, if a little ill-advised chocolate cake. With almost 3 lbs. of dark chocolate in the frosting, the cake barely held-up to the weight.

 There are worse problems.

I got a coffee today, and was quite impressed by how they managed to layer the coffee on top of the syrup (taking pics of food without looking like a weirdo/mystery shopper is hard :shifty: )

Also, I know the pic (and food) looks shabby, but I'm quite proud of this since I made it up as I went along and it turned out to be fantastic

Its Basa fillet with garlic and herbs, and rice with spring onion.

Ohh I'm curious about Bison. My friend keeps trying to get me to try it but I'm skeered.

It tastes just like beef but is leaner (so never order it well done).

Germany, giant schnitzel - seriously it's hard to see here, but that "plate" is like a platter, really.

Can any of you cook? How long does this food take to prepare at home? My philosophy is that, excluding the time food takes to cook in the oven because at least I can be doing something else whilst it's cooking, food preparation should not have to take longer than an hour. I mean what's the point of spending longer to prepare food than it takes to eat it? Unless it's from one of Jamie Oliver's 30 minute recipes where he makes cooking look like fun I see it as bloody boring and I am completely useless if the recipe is too difficult.

But eating in is cheaper than eating out where I live.

Yes, I cook all the time. Everything takes a different amount of time, but generally the meals I make most often take about an hour, depending on how many ingredients there are and if there's lots of chopping (i.e., soups that have loads of veggies in them). I don't really care how long it takes me to cook - I enjoy the whole process.

This weekend I made my new favourite, potato bacon soup:

So simple, yet so delicious!
