I used to hate coconut because I once ate some and threw up that night. It turned out I had caught my brother's stomach flu, but I associated coconut with getting sick for years.

Now I dig it.

Is it the flavor or the texture you don't like? I've never been much on grated coconut, but I do love sweets and curries made with coconut milk. It's only the texture of the coconut 'meat' that bugs me a little, though I don't hate it by any means.

Definitely hate the texture.. I can tolerate the flavor in say a pina colada or something  But overall I just hate coconut.

I love coconut  especially fresh coconut straight from the nut.
The coconut flavor is good in lots of things too. As long as it's flavored with real coconut and not an artificial flavor.

i like coconut, but it's another thing i don't want in anything i'd consider a drink. milkshakes fall under that category.

Coconut talk brings me back to fond memories as a kid when my brother and I took a screwdriver and a hammer and were allowed to destroy and eat the coconut my mom would bring home from the grocery store.

I'm pretty indifferent about coconut now, mostly because it often is such artificially sweet crap that they put in candy.

But coconut in beans and rice...:drool::drool:

Yes that! The screwdriver and the hammer, exactly! :D My brother and I did the same thing! We also used a hammer on macadamia nuts.
:reject: But I still do it that way with coconuts... is there any other way?

Heh, I was going to bring up coconut juice before when we were talking about bubble tea. I've been drinking that sometimes lately, although I haven't really gotten used to the flavour yet. It just tastes like something that should be eaten, not drank. I pretty much only ever have coconut in curries outside of that.

I haven't smashed a coconut in years (decades? :reject:).
It's probably time to try again. I'm older and my toys are bigger. I bought an 18 lb. sledgehammer last year. :D

Peach cobbler donut (mostly eaten by… someone  ):

My college roommate and I got together yesterday and spent literally all day visiting our favorite places for food and shopping. I had Thai peanut chicken for lunch but I forgot to take a picture. I also had two glasses of Thai tea. :shifty: I've had my fix now so I'm good for a while.

Oh my God, it even has the burned lines from the toaster. Too bad that the chicken was not from the Gyro-styled rotisserie though, make sure you get the gyro style next time along with some tzatziki sauce.

I've tried a gyro at that place, too. It was really good, and I had it with pasta salad instead of fries.

Okay, I mainly just want to eat the tzatziki sauce with a spoon, but I'll put a gyro under it to be less conspicuous.

 i am inclined to agree with this.

it also settles the question of where i will be stopping for dinner tonight at work.

A whole entire dungeness crab, baby!

The potatoes were damn tasty too - with chives and truffles. Heavenly!

Every meal I ate this weekend was phenomenal. I probably gained a few pounds, but it was oh so worth it!

^Mmmm.

More broccoli please!
yeah, i wished i'd put more in. i had a second helping later though with more broccoli :D

What kind of sauce do you use (if any)?
i marinate the beef in an oriental honey (yeah i dunno, that's its name) marinade for a bit and then also add a little sweet and sour sauce at the tail end of cooking.
