we used to have hot mushy peas in little polystyrene pots topped with mint sauce, at fairs and things... but they are definitely best with fish and chips and lots of vinegar - it's one of the things i miss most about Blighty now i live in France - i would take fish and chips as a nice foodie treat over French cuisine any day haha

here's a piccie i just googled

Those peas look like they need an upside down meat pie lying in them.

What do you all get from Jimmy John's that you like so much?
I've tried it a couple of times and haven't been very impressed--not bad, just kind of meh.

I've been a vegetarian for over 20 years so for me to go into a fast food place and find something that I can eat without recreating a menu is great. It's become a lot more common in recent years to have at least one veggie option on a menu but for years my only choice for a quick lunch was Subway.

Jimmy Johns has a delightful veggie sub on the menu and also jalapeno chips

It doesn't take much to get me all excited about a sandwich.

I get the ham and cheese one (hold the lettuce, please). The bread is fantastic, which goes a long way.

Also, cheap. And amazing pickles.

Have you tried Davanni's or Pizza Luce's veggie subs?

I'll give Jimmy John's another try.
I seem to remember they had good cookies.

I am a Potbelly and Subway guy. (Not to mention Riverview Cafe's Special Sandwich. )

I like Subway just fine, but I think both Quizno's and Jimmy John's are miles better.

There used to be two Quizno's near my neighborhood, but they both closed, and now I'm a sad panda.

oh yeah....I don't go to Davanni's too often but I do go to Pizza Luce's quite a bit now that there's one in SLP. I like Potbelly and Quiznos too if I'm in the mood for a toasted sandwich but I think JJ's is just my favorite. I've tried Erbert's and Gerbert's, which is the exact same ingredients on their veggie sub as JJ's but it's really not as tasty

never been to Riverview....just googled it and no wonder. I'm never in that neck of the woods. My friend keeps talking about going to Bewitched (downtown on Washington) because they are supposed to have a really great lunch menu too.

Blah! Quizno's always manages to be either too expensive, bad, or not filling enough.

Subway, not a huge fan although I wont say no. It's just eh. Good enough.

Jimmy John's is on another level though.

Almost a 'classy' fast food, up with Moe's, Chipotle, and places like that

i like subway. i like being able to see what my options for sandwich ingredients are, and it's pretty much the only fast food sandwich place outside of a real deli where they don't give you a hard time for listing off whatever you want on a sandwich. no "what do you mean you don't want the mayo?" and still putting the funky dill-something mayo on the sandwich despite your argument against it. d'angelo's isn't bad, but they're too expensive for having very few things that are really awesome. plus i swear they're incredibly inconsistent. you would think that a chicken stirfry sub at a chain would vaguely resemble the chicken stirfry sub at another one of the same chain just a couple towns over, but no....we have no more quiznos around here (and didn't like them much when we did, see the mayo rant above), and i've never heard of this jimmy john character. nor have i seen sprouts ANYWHERE in a long time.

however, for $4.75 i can get an awesome turkey/lettuce/tomato/mustard/hot peppers grinder twice the size of a subway footlong at a local deli.

That being said I was so upset the other day when I decided to get Pita Pit instead. Pits Pit is awful.
wait a minute, a pita pit is actually real? i thought my brother made that up. he isn't a fan, either.

I'm a big fan of subway as well, though you don't have dead horse in America, which is very frustrating.

Very expensive though
