Current Work-Outs

So, since it's just after New Year's and a lot of people are starting or (starting over ) with new work-outs, I was wondering what other Interlanders are doing now for your physical activity. I got Zumba for Christmas, and I just did my first work-out today, and I think I'm going to really enjoy it. I started running 6 miles a day in middle school and by the end of high school I was completely burned out and sick of it. And ever since then I've just been sporadically bouncing from work-out to work-out trying to find something I actually enjoy. I think this might be it. Also, I used to do Pilates, but I'm really wanting to try yoga, so if anyone has any suggestions of good beginners' yoga DVDs, that would be great.

Lately I've just been doing weights about 4 times a week, and maybe mix one cardio day in if I'm lucky. I'm so much better with cardio during the warmer months, as it's so much easier and natural for me to just want to go running or do something outside when I get home from work when there's no snow.

This last week I've been considering buying a stationary bike, or some sort of decent piece of cardio equipment, for home to combat the cardio slowdown winter brings. Not sure what to look into, or how much I need to spend to get something I'll be happy with though.

By the way, the gym has been absolute chaos this week with all the New Years Resolutioners there! Luckily it usually goes back to normal attendance about mid-February.

I do the Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels workout dvds. Get my cardio with some strength training mixed in. Switch it all up with kickboxing workouts. Really love kickboxing it's a workout I have been able to stick with for years.

Elliptical, 30-60 minutes. Joint condition flair ups right now so no lifting or impact cardio. I also do quite a bit of upper body stregth conditioning built in to working dogs. When I'm in the mood for conditioning, I do this Bikini Body Workout that's on my Comcast box.

1,5 hours of karate twice a week. Works pretty much perfectly and it's a lot of fun too. And now I've a 3 hour training once a month extra to get my black belt.
And it helps that I pretty much cycle everywhere, to work, to the train station, to get groceries... only time I go by car is actually to karate. Only on wednesdays, since fridays the car's at my dad's work and I'll go by bike.

Don't worry baby, it's gonna be all right. Uncertainty can be a guiding light...

I run 3x a week. On days I don't run, I do the 30 Day Shred (Jillian Michaels DVD), and I'm planning on getting a Wii Fit to try something a bit different. In Nov/Dec I did a 200 sit-up challenge with some friends that I might do again in a few months. So far this has worked fairly well for me. Changing up the routine every now and then is definitely a good thing.

I lift my left arm for chips, while I use my right arm for the remote.

It's 43 degrees here today. Celcius. Just come and stand on my back verandah and stretch....

Air conditioning is a beautiful thing....

Was thinking about purchasing the Wii Fit. Haven't done any research on it yet so I really don't know anything about it only from the tv commercials.
Is it worth buying?

I really like it. I do the yoga mostly.

I'm going to start going back to the gym on Tuesday. I have the membership and want to lift weights again.

We borrowed a Wii Fit and weren't particularly impressed. To me a "workout" is when I end up dripping wet and feel like an overcooked noodle. If I'm not stumbling to the shower, I haven't worked hard enough. The stuff on the Wii Fit was definitely recreational, but not really what we were looking for as far as a real workout.
