I have had an idea in my head for a book for years. The plot is complete the characters developed, I just can't seem to write it no matter how hard I try.

I try to do nano ,but I always end up forgetting.

The other writing advice I've heard from a few people (it doesn't fit for National Novel Writing Month):
Make yourself write 5 pages every day, 7 days a week. In 3-4 months, you will have your novel.

You just reminded me. I have yet to write up my notes on the documentary a few weeks ago about the Amanda Knox trial and the report on Newsnight about so called cognitive and moral expanding drugs

I'm bumping up this thread to announce that I finally finished the book that I was working on!

I started back in November during NaNoWriMo and almost everyday, spent either an hour or hours on this novel, and now I'm done!

The reason why I am so happy and proud of myself is because I always started writing novels, but never finished them. This is really the first time I ever completed a novel. And yes, I am going to have it published. Either by the traditional route or through E-publishing, I will get my book out to the world.

Now, to edit the damn thing.

Thank you!

Bad news: it's a vampire novel

Good news: the vampire is the villain/protagonist.

I decided to do a vampire novel because I hope to write a lot of novels (if all goes well for me), and I didn't think it would have been a good idea to write historical fiction, modern day fiction, etc. and then turn around and write a horror/thriller. I figured that would make me a sell-out. Probably not, but that was what I figured several months ago.

But I completed it, so there's no turning back. Tomorrow, I'll get started on editing and looking for a literary agent. It's going to be hard to find one, since many say vampires have run their course. Perhaps, but I was told by a few writers and agents that if mine is different from the paranormal romances out there, I might have a chance. Keyword: might.

So, if I do not get anywhere with traditional publishing, I will self-publish for E-books. Like I said, my book will get out to the world.

Thank you! I've thought long and hard on what to do next, and I've decided to go E-Publishing. My book will be out on Kindle and Smashwords, and if all goes well it will be out by September.

Congrats on finishing and publishing from me, too.

I've started writing something.

To be fair, I started with the idea 4 years ago, I just started writing this version of it about two weeks ago. It's been an endless series of plot tweaks, oscillating between a John steinbeck-style totally depressing ending to a shiny happy ending. I think I need to find the middle of both extremes and then it'll be complete.

And no one is ever going to read it.

Wow, Pearl! Congratulations, that's great.

I really need to get back to writing. I've been tumble-drying an idea in my brain for a few years (off and on), and at one point I had it mostly worked out. My notes are hiding somewhere in my apartment. I just need to finally get down to it.

I'm on page 79 of my novel. I have the entire plot and act structure sketched out, I just need to find the time to sit down and write the thing. Finals blow.
